How are the funds dispersed?

Each scholarship award will be divided into two equal payments, disbursed once in the fall and once in the spring.

If I am awarded a scholarship, will I get a check?

No. All scholarships funds will be sent directly to the financial aid office of the university, college, trade or vocational school for which you are enrolled.

What if I am awarded a scholarship to attend one school, but transfer to a different school during the school year?

If for any reason you transfer to another school, please notify Indiana Black Expo, Inc. 317-925-2702 prior to transferring or you risk forfeiting your scholarship.

Is this scholarship available for undocumented students?

No. The Circle City Classic® Scholarship is only awarded to students who are U.S. citizens, who can provide a Social Security number and completed FAFSA form.

What is the deadline for the scholarship and will you accept late applications?

The deadline for the Circle City Classic® Scholarship TBD . IBE does not accept any late applications.

Do I have to be currently enrolled at a university to apply for the scholarship?

The Circle City Classic® Scholarship is open to high school seniors and undergraduate students. High school students must be accepted as a full-time college student and current college students must be enrolled for the upcoming year.

Is this scholarship just for African American students?

No. The Circle City Classic® Scholarship is open to all Indiana residents who meet the scholarship qualifications. IBE does not discriminate based on color, creed or ethnicity.

I am over 30 years old; can I still apply for the scholarship?

Yes. The Circle City Classic® Scholarship is open to all Indiana residents who meet the scholarship qualifications. IBE does not discriminate based on age.

Is it possible to receive a scholarship if I don't have my parents financial or tax information?

You will need your parents\’ taxes to complete the FAFSA (unless you meet the criteria for “emancipated status” listed on the application). This is a requirement to apply. To be considered you must include the FAFSA information.

If I am awarded the scholarship in the past but don't return to school second semester of the same academic year, can I get the reminder of my scholarship when I return?

No. Scholarships are only disbursed in the year for which they are awarded. If you do not return to school for the second semester, the second disbursement is forfeited.

If I am awarded the scholarship this year, will I automatically get the scholarship next year?

No. You must reapply each year and meet the scholarship requirements for that year; unless told otherwise by Indiana Black Expo, Inc.
